Buckhead
Buckhead is known as one of Atlanta’s most affluent and upscale neighborhoods, often referred to as the “Beverly Hills of the South.” It is famed for its luxurious shopping, fine dining, high-end real estate, and vibrant nightlife. With its mix of urban living and lush green spaces, it has become a favorite area for both residents and visitors seeking a sophisticated lifestyle.
A Bit of History
Buckhead’s origins date back to the 1830s, starting as a rural community. Its name comes from a story that involves a local hunter mounting a large deer head (or buck’s head) on a post, marking the area. The neighborhood began to transform in the 20th century, with wealthy Atlantans building grand estates amidst the rolling hills and forests. By the mid-20th century, Buckhead had established itself as an upscale residential and commercial area. The latter half of the century saw the development of high-rise buildings, luxury hotels, and shopping districts, solidifying its status as a premier urban destination.
